Under the Simply Spotlight
By Barry Donnelly
Welcome to our second installment of Under the Simply Spotlight. Under the Simply Spotlight this week is Lauren Reid.
When and where were you born?
I was born in Manchester, England (the blue side) on September 11th, 1990.
What was your first job?
I worked in retail for French Connection in Manchester one day a week while I was at college.
What’s your current position with Simply Computing?
I’m a service technician at the Vancouver store.
How long have you been in this position?
Since November 2016, so not that long!
What was your job before working at Simply Computing?
When I first arrived in Vancouver in June 2016 I landed a job at a small recruitment agency in downtown Vancouver where I was a receptionist, recruiter and the IT specialist.
What is your favourite product in the store right now?
It is between the Audio Engine 5+ and the Sonos Speakers we have. Not that I’d ever be able to afford them… maybe one day!
Favourite thing about working with Simply?
I don’t think there is a day where I don’t learn something new and the Vancouver store team are the best!
3 words you would use to describe working at Simply Computing
Interesting, educational, fun
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
It would either be a classic English fry-up or any Indian curry! Winner!
What music are you listening to right now?
I like a bit of everything really, recently I’ve been playing Childish Gambino and James Blake.
What is your most memorable travel experience?
Last year I went to Bolivia and spent 3 days in Salar de Uyuni. At one point we were 5,000 metres above sea level and the landscape was unreal! It is a great place to get some amazing photos.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I have a part time job where I manage a roofing sales representative’s social media accounts, so when I’m not working I try to get out the city to do stuff like mountain biking or hiking and I try to keep up to date on the football back home.
If you could possess one
super power, what would it be?
Teleportation! Only so I could go anywhere for food! I’d go to Vegas for breakfast and Chennai for a decent curry! Oh, and I guess I could pop home from a brew now and again.
