Under the Simply Spotlight – Episode 6 Student Edition

Welcome to the student edition of Under the Simply Spotlight, where we spoke to one of our student staff members for their insights into working at Simply. Each month we put one of our staff under the spotlight so that you can get to know the people who provide our outstanding service. For this edition, we spoke to Jordan Bornais, from our Kamloops store. So read on for a short interview that gives a flavour of who we are.

Where do you go to school and what are you studying?
I am from Calgary and moved to Kamloops when I was only one and lived there ever since then.

What’s your current position at Simply Computing?
I go to Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops and I am working towards my Bachelors of Physics.

Do you have any vacations planed before going back to college?
Its technically a vacation but nothing extravagant, but I will be visiting Vancouver Island and Victoria again this year with my girlfriend for a week!

What’s your current position at Simply Computing?
I am currently a Sales Representative and a One-on-One Trainer at my store in Kamloops.

What was your job before working at Simply Computing?
I was actually working in the Electronics Department at Target for about a year before they all closed down.

If you could own any product in store right now, what would it be?
I know that it isn’t out yet but I would very very much like to own the new iMac Pro coming out soon, it’s due out in December and the Space Grey accessories are a very nice touch.

What’s your favourite thing about working with Simply?
My favourite thing about working at Simply would most likely be the atmosphere. It is extremely high paced and you’re always on your feet and trying to solve unique problems. Its also extremely rewarding helping someone find something they never thought possible.

What music are you into right now? How do you listen to it?
If it has a beat, then I like it. There are very few genres that I don’t have saved on my iPhone. I will normally listen to my music either through my MacBook Pro speakers, or through BeatsX or AirPods.

If you could eat just 1 type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to be burritos, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner in one nicely wrapped surprise!

What advice would you give to a fellow student in the market for a new computer/iPad?
There are two pieces of advice I could give, the first being that it’s never too early to think about what you could be doing in the future and picking a computer or iPad that will help you most in the situation, but at the same time you do not need always need the top of line equipment to be able to succeed in school.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
As of late, a great deal of my spare time has been spent at the gym! If not there I would be playing basketball or just hanging out somewhere with friends.

What do you hope to work as once you’ve finished college?
After I have finished, there are a great number of places I would hope to work for, but at the end of it all I really hope to have a business of my own.
